BRINGING TECH OPPORTUNITIES ONE CLASSROOM AT A TIME

This April, in the heart of Abuja, Path4Her partnered with Google Women Techmakers Gwarinpa to mark International Women’s Day with purpose. Our goal was to help women feel seen, heard, and fully equipped for the professional world by starting with an optimized LinkedIn profile and a powerful headshot.

In marginalized communities, women face significant barriers to accessing digital skills. According to the GSM Mobile Gender Report (2020), only 12% of women possess foundational digital skills. Path4Her is committed to changing this narrative. Our goal for this outreach was simple yet powerful: to inspire and enlighten young women in underserved communities about the possibilities of tech careers.

Path4Her, in collaboration with The BigSis Initiative, implemented a comprehensive program to empower final-year (SS3) girls at Oginigba Community High School in Port Harcourt, including menstrual hygiene education, a product-driven career workshop, and a workshop on building entrepreneurial spirit, reaching a total of 225 girls.

Path4Her officially launched its outreach journey with a product-driven career workshop for over 55 SS3 students at Government Secondary School, Kubwa, Abuja. In collaboration with the school’s ICT department, we introduced the girls to the vast opportunities within the tech industry and provided beginner-friendly resources to spark their journey into tech. The impact? A remarkable shift in their mindset and aspirations.
