In marginalized communities, women face significant barriers to accessing digital skills. According to the GSM Mobile Gender Report (2020), only 12% of women possess foundational digital skills. Path4Her is committed to changing this narrative. Our goal for this outreach was simple yet powerful: to inspire and enlighten young women in underserved communities about the possibilities of tech careers.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

Our story began with a mission to inspire and enlighten young women about tech career opportunities. On our second outreach, we visited Government Secondary School, Lafia, Nassarawa, where 150 SS3 students anticipated our arrival.

We started with mindset-building, sharing a video of a teenager's transformative tech journey. (A facilitator's younger sister) Our facilitators then introduced them to the vast opportunities in tech Career, as they proceeded to talk on product-driven roles like design and management. The girls were getting excited!

Hands-on Workshop

We didn’t stop at inspiration. We got practical.
In our interactive sessions, the girls were introduced to beginner tools like Figma, Trello, and Google Workspace. Despite having little or no prior exposure, they engaged with curiosity and courage, asking questions, exploring features, and even solving challenges on the spot.

We were beyond impressed by their quick grasp and smart thinking. Their energy gave us hope.

CONTINUITY & IMPACT

Since our inaugural outreach in July 2023 at Government Secondary School, Kubwa (Abuja), Path4Her has remained committed to equipping young girls in marginalized communities with the tools and exposure they need to thrive in tech.

At both outreaches:

  • We hosted practical, beginner-friendly workshops

  • We distributed custom merchandise and printed learning resources

  • We created an atmosphere of possibility and belonging

CONCLUSION

The outcome? 150 girls now envision product driven tech careers. Receiving fun merchandise and materials that would support and empower them and serve as a guidance towards taking further steps to exploring the tech world.

We’re proud of the impact we’ve made and even more excited about the future we’re building. One girl at a time.
