On July 7th, 2023, Path4Her launched its first outreach program aimed at empowering SS3 female students (ages 16-18) with opportunities in product-driven tech careers. At Government Secondary School in Kubwa, Abuja, we hosted an engaging workshop, introduced beginner-friendly resources, and surprised the girls with exciting merchandise. This event marked the beginning of our mission to inspire young women to envision themselves in technology roles that drive impactful change.
STUDENT VOICES
The enthusiasm and curiosity in the room were electric as the students began to see new possibilities for themselves:
“I think I’d make a great product manager—I already have strong leadership skills!”
“Wow, I could design cool apps like TikTok?!”
“If someone like you, who went to this same school, can learn these skills and build amazing apps, I can do it too!”
PRINCIPAL REMARKS
Mr. Musa Nuhu Zuru, the school’s principal, expressed profound gratitude, recognising the impact of even small acts of outreach:
“It’s amazing to see people reach out with so little. Thank you for showing these girls kindness. We rarely get these chances, and it gives us all hope for the future.”
CONCLUSION
Our first outreach at Government Secondary School was a transformative moment, filled with inspiration, discovery, and excitement. We planted seeds of curiosity and empowerment in each young woman, encouraging them to imagine a future where they can lead, create, and innovate within the tech industry.
Path4Her is proud to have made this initial impact and looks forward to expanding our mission to empower more young women across Nigeria, one school at a time.
This is just the beginning—we’re building a future where every girl can see herself as a tech leader, innovator, and change maker.
