Path4Her, in partnership with The BigSis Initiative, recently launched an empowering program for 225 final-year (SS3) girls at a Community High School in Port Harcourt. With a generous donation of ₦453,421.80, we reached these young women through meaningful initiatives in menstrual hygiene education, technology career exposure, and entrepreneurial skill development, offering them the tools and inspiration to pursue their dreams.
PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
Menstrual Hygiene Education
We provided a workshop on safe and hygienic menstrual management, equipping the girls with essential knowledge about menstrual health. This session aimed to foster confidence and promote open conversations, helping the girls manage their health with awareness and self-assurance.
Product-Driven Tech Careers Workshop
Our workshop introduced the students to promising, product driven roles within the technology sector. Exploring fields such as product design, product management, and other product-driven careers, we broadened their understanding of tech, highlighting fulfilling career paths that do not require coding skills but play a vital role in tech innovation.
Entrepreneurship Training
In an effort to inspire an entrepreneurial mindset, we guided students through the basics of entrepreneurship, covering business idea generation, planning, and key skills needed to launch and sustain a venture. This training encouraged them to see entrepreneurship as a viable and exciting option for their future.
Free Pad Initiative
Through our partnership with AyaCare, we provided each girl with free sanitary pads, emphasizing the importance of accessible menstrual care as a part of personal empowerment. This initiative promoted dignity and confidence, helping to ensure that menstrual health is not a barrier to their daily lives.
Exam Fee Support
Recognizing the financial challenges some students face, we covered pending examination fees for 10 female students, removing a significant financial burden and ensuring they could proceed with their exams without worry. This support was a vital step in empowering them to reach their academic potential.
CONCLUSION
Our collaboration with The BigSis Initiative and AyaCare created a holistic program focused on empowerment, aspiration, and self-belief. By addressing key health needs, exposing the girls to impactful career paths, and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, we’re paving the way for these young women to confidently pursue their dreams. Through this program, we are not only meeting immediate needs but also investing in a brighter, more empowered future for each participant.
